I'm a wedding photographer based in Ottawa Ontario, but travels worldwide. My photography approach is intentional, honest and editorial. An organic approach to capture fleeting moments. This blog lives to inspire your wedding photos and provide you planning tips.
I’m here to break down why a wedding album needs to be included in your wedding costs. Printed photos is like listening to your favorite childhood song or smelling sunscreen. Music, scent and printed photography are great trigger happy thoughts and memories.
Every time I listen to ‘Boy Next Door’ by Taylor Swift, I have this clear memory of my sisters and I dancing and singing our hearts out. We had just moved to Canada from the Philippines, we had the windows cracked open, in the middle of winter, as we danced around in our bedroom jamming to good old Taylor Swift. That song still to this day makes me happy reminding me one of my fondest memories.
“Happiness has four stages, to take out the most happiness from an experience. we must anticipate it, savor it as it unfolds, express happiness and recall a happy memory.” – Gretchen Rubin
It really wasn’t that long ago when the only way one could enjoy photos was in a photo album. I was always a nostalgic kid and kept a lot of little trinkets. Every year I would flip through photo albums and reminiscing
Now that everything is digital, people don’t really print their photos. But there’s a real problem here… When there’s nothing tangible (meaning nothing you can hold in your hand), then how often are you going to go back and relive those memories?
Photographs are a great way to decorate your home and add your personality. Bring life and personality to your living space. One of my friends childhood home have a whole hallway filled with family photos of them growing up and pictures of their parents before they had kids. I was blown away at the amount of history, memories and life that was told on a single wall.
Wedding albums bring back memories, they tell your story. A tangible item that you get to keep and pass on to your kids. You might not be able to keep the cake, flowers or food but your wedding album will live on years after your wedding day.
Remember 3 inch floppy discs? Yeah, same! Technology fails. Devices like computers and phones crash. Hard drives can corrupt, and fixing all of these can be expensive. Plus, tech stuff goes obsolete every ten years.
Not saying that you shouldn’t have a digital back-up! (you definitely should store your photos in that cloud)But prints are never going to go away. You can look at your album as an investment in your family’s legacy.
Through photo albums, you can relive your day like you were right there again. Online galleries can’t do this in the same way. There’s is something special about holding those moments in your hands while you flip through the pages.
With a photo album it’s a great way to remember your journey as a couple
It also makes for a great gift that they can treasure forever. It’s really for you now but your kids and grandkids will be glad to have this masterpiece for life.
Did I convince you? I hope so. Prints are so magical – they never go out of style. You’ll always treasure your wedding album and photos.
I offer amazing, archival quality prints and albums to all of my amazing clients. You’ve already invested so much into your relationship and each other. Now it’s time to invest in a tangible memento that you can both enjoy together.
