I'm a wedding photographer based in Ottawa Ontario, but travels worldwide. My photography approach is intentional, honest and editorial. An organic approach to capture fleeting moments. This blog lives to inspire your wedding photos and provide you planning tips.
If you’ve been to Ottawa during winter, Rideau Canal Skating is a must-go spot and a great location for your winter engagement photos. It is the largest skate rink in the world, a 7.8KM stretch from the downtown core to Dow’s lake. It’s a great place for family, friends and couples date.
2019 Winter has been one for the books, record-breaking snowfall hit Ottawa last winter beating the record from 1999. If you are not located somewhere that snows just trust that it was a LOT of snow.
When taking photos outdoors, be prepared for the weather. Having a backup plan is always a good idea.
Driving to Alison + Darell was definitely a challenge. It has already snowed drastically a couple of days ago and there was still a lot of snow unplowed from the previous snowfall.
Despite the little difficulty of getting to the Rideau River Skateway, it was the most magical winter engagement photoshoot. Imagine big fluffy snow and great -10C weather. It was like we were in a real-life snow globe. We frolicked in a field of untouched snow, had a snowball fight and skated our way down the Rideau Skateway.
I hope that after looking through this gallery you are inspired to go for a winter engagement session in the future. Because it’s worth the gamble and has the potential to be a magical time.
